On Wednesday, February 15 at 7 pm at Books & Co. at The Greene, 4453 Walnut Street, Beavercreek, LARA ELENA DONNELLY will introduce her novel, Amberlough. It makes for exciting reading! It’s as if LeCarre meets Cabaret in this debut spy thriller as a gay double-agent schemes to protect his smuggler lover during the rise of a fascist government coup.
Covert agent Cyril DePaul and Aristide Makricosta suit each other. Aristide turns a blind eye to Cyril’s clandestine affairs, and Cyril keeps his lover’s moonlighting job as a smuggler under wraps.
Enter streetwise Cordelia Lehane, a top dancer at the Bumble Bee Cabaret and Aristide’s runner, and you have three people who will struggle to survive the fascist revolution using whatever means and people necessary, including each other. Lesson learned: Trust no one with anything – especially in Amberlough City.
Lara Elena Donnelly has been published in Icarus, Strange Horizons, Grim Corps, and Mythic Delirium. She combines her writing expertise with her experience as a professional fire performer, belly dancer, and knowledge of aerial acrobatics and burlesque to create the decadent night life of Amberlough.
