• Greene County Public Library Closed

Greene County Public Library’s administration has decided to temporarily close the library until April 6 on the advice of the Greene County Health Commissioner. The closure includes services such as the bookmobile, outreach, and Interlibrary Loan. The decision to temporarily close was not made lightly. Right now we know COVID-19 spreads in large groups and we are encouraging the best practice of social distancing. Libraries across Ohio, including several of our neighboring libraries, are taking similar measures.

You don’t need to worry about returning things you’ve borrowed during the closure. Due dates for library materials (including those borrowed through SearchOhio, OhioLINK, and WorldCat) will be extended until the library is reopened. If you would like to return library materials, please do so using our book drops. In the meantime, we have lots of online resources available through our website, including streaming movies and music through Hoopla, downloadable books from OverDrive, and magazines through Flipster.

    A few additional notes:

    • Library programs and events through April 15 have been canceled.
    • Greene County Public Health has told us that library materials are not a concern for the spread of the Coronavirus.
    • Responses to questions and comments submitted through our website, social media, or via email might take a little longer during the closure.
    • As the COVID-19 situation progresses, we will update our page at greenelibrary.info/covid-19-plan/.
    • For information concerning COVID-19 in general, the State of Ohio has created coronavirus.ohio.gov.
    •
We are asking our patrons to be safe, use their best judgement, and follow the advice given by health officials:
    • Wash hands often. Use soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Dry hands with a clean towel or air-dry hands.
    • Use hand sanitizer (containing at least 60% alcohol) when soap and water are unavailable.
    • Cover your mouth with a tissue or sleeve when sneezing or coughing.
    • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth.
    • Stay home when you are sick.
    • Avoid contact with people who are sick.
