CHOICES Inc. was founded in 1986 and is a private non-profit that serves Southwest Ohio.
CHOICES serves youth and families through three main programs: foster care, independent living (helping kids “age out” of foster care) and home-based services (children’s mental health).
CHOICES fosters a meaningful quality of life for youth and families. We inspire hope, strengthen foundations, and enrich environments through supportive individualized services.
Each year CHOICES serves over 650 youth in the surrounding communities, including Greene County. For 30 years they have licensed foster homes and placed children with loving caregivers. CHOICES places children of all ages from birth to 21, however being a treatment level provider they do work with older kids and those with more severe trauma.
The independent living program is unique to the area, working with foster youth ages 17-21 to help them “age out” of care. Youth are placed in their own apartment and work alongside a caseworker and dedicated team to learn life skills. The goal is for the young adult to be prepared to live independently upon completion of the program. CHOICES helps youth in this program obtain employment, enroll in school or a trade and learn crucial life skills for success.
The goal of the home-based services program is to help families stay together and thrive. A dedicated team of professionals provide children’s mental health services, family conflict resolution and comprehensive transition services to local families.
